At Village Link, we create and deliver innovative digital solutions that empower farmers across Myanmar and strengthen every step of the agricultural value chain. Our projects focus on farmer advisory services, traceability systems, aquaculture development, financial literacy, climate-smart farming, and public–private partnerships, driving sustainable growth and digital transformation in agriculture.
Intensive farming extension advisory for rice farmer through VLSS (Village Link Satellite Service)
2018 to 2020
In this project, through Htwet Toe, the country’s most popular farming app, we use remote sensing technology to provide personalized advisories, broadcast weather and pest outbreak alerts to farmers based on farm location, soil condition, crop type, sowing date, and weather conditions on site. By using a combination of satellite and field data, Village Link establishes a platform to remotely monitor the farm conditions for farmers and partners to improve farming and business operations by making informed decisions.
Digital Financial Service
2018 to 2019
Village Link and Maha Agriculture Public Co. Ltd. (a Microfinance Company) have worked together to pilot integrate digital financial services (DFS) which starts with payment services and financial literacy into Htwettoe mobile application for Maha’s customer base of smallholder farmers, MSMEs and women vendors. The project aims to provide digital service to 5,000 Maha’s borrowers which help to lower borrowing cost at the same time, farmers gained understanding about financial management skills, including risk management and insurance concept.
MyVAS4Agri
2018 to 2022
Myanmar Mobile Value Added Services for Agriculture is an innovative agri-mobile application that aims to build a community between farmers and agricultural professionals on a single digital platform. Farmers have at their fingertips data on current and projected weather conditions, alerts regarding weather events and epidemics, up to date information on prices of agricultural inputs and products, and instant access to trained staff to answer their questions.
The Project aims to help 850,000 small households to build a more productive and climatic resilience farming practice.
Funded by Netherland Space Agency. Consortiums: Village Link and Myanmar Awba, Department of Agriculture, Weather Impact, Sarvision and TerraSphere.
Weather Advisory Service for farmers in Ayeyarwady Delta
2022 to Now
To provide digital extension services, including localized seasonal and weekly weather forecast and advisory to crops and fish farming farmers in Ayeyarwady Delta. Through Htwet Toe digital communities in mobile applications and other social media channels: Facebook group, YouTube, Viber group, weather information combines with crop and fish production calendar, advisories will be made available at township level in Ayeyarwady Delta and notification will be sent to respected farmers groups. Farmers can give their feedback, follow up for further information and specific assistance through its Q&A service or Call Center.
Extension service for Fish-farming Community
2019 to Now
Through Htwettoe Application, Village Link and WorldFish have been providing extension service to Fish-Farming community. The project aims to disseminate information about nutrition advisory, weather, technical advisory, market, and financial services to small-scale aquaculture farmers in Myanmar. The project currently provides service to 68,000 Fish-farming farmers.
Extension Service for Rubber Growers
2019 to 2024
Village Link will work in cooperation with Care Myanmar in Generating Rubber Opportunity (GRO) Myanmar to provide several Digital Information services, which enables farmers to access to needed technical information, agro-met advisory, improve their agricultural practices and resulting in enhanced crop performance and improved resilience. The partnership also aims to provide farmers accessible platform to connect with agronomists and experts who will answer their daily problems in farming through Htwet Toe Mobile Application and direct Call Center.
